So, the curtain closed on another Hillside awayday weekend, what a great time it was. Thanks to Doug for all his hard work in organising the event, plus the other helpers who were involved. The courses were in great condition, challenging in many places, the weather was a story of 2 seasons, summer on the Saturday, Winter on the Sunday… but we soldiered on.
Well done to Liam Roberts on winning the monthly stableford.
Congratulations to all the winners of the monthly events, the singles winner, doubles winners & the league winner. Liam Roberts won the driver draw; Shaun Forde won the 4-ball voucher.

History
How we started
Hillside Golf Society was formed in the 1980’s from staff working at Plessey’s Christchurch. The founding member and first chairman was Mike Hodgson.
Back then handicaps were made up on the hoof and the rules of golf may not have been strictly adhered to.
In 1987 things got more professional when the society held its inaugural league tournament with the winner being the society’s founder Mike Hodgson !! a coincidence ? maybe !
This was followed in 1995 by the addition of a Singles and Pairs match play tournament.
The aims of the society is to play competitive golf in a friendly environment.
The society plays at least once a month from February to November with the winner each month being awarded 20 points, second place gets 19 etc etc. A members top 10 scores count towards the league title. Singles and Pairs match play competitions also run throughout the year.
We are fortunate to have a great number of wonderful courses all within an hours drive of Christchurch/Bournemouth and we also go further afield on occasions.
The society has gone from strength to strength and currently boasts a membership in excess of 40. The society has also benefitted from G R Westbuild who’s sponsorship has helped immensely.
There is an annual prize giving event with prizes being awarded to the winner of each monthly event along with the winner of the Singles, Pairs and the League.
